Class 2- On the Move

Year 2 Glockenspiels

Class 2 have thoroughly enjoyed playing the Glockenspiel this term! They've been learning how to play a pattern of notes in time to a beat and then synchronising with music. It's been fantastic to see their progress and watch them develop their rhythmic skills. We even had some fun experimenting with the tempo, challenging ourselves to see how fast we could play while still keeping it accurate. The enthusiasm in the classroom has been contagious! We're looking forward to continuing our musical journey and seeing how much more we can achieve together.

Science investigation - Changing solid objects

In Class 2, we’ve been having a fantastic time exploring how we can change the shape of solid objects! The children have really thrown themselves into the activities, stretching, bending, squashing, and twisting various solids to see what happens. It’s been amazing to watch their creativity and curiosity as they experimented with different materials, discovering new shapes and textures along the way.

Bike and scooter fun!

Class 2 have had a flying start to the year! We’ve been diving into the exciting world of forces, specifically looking at how we can move objects using push and pull forces. Each child had the chance to explore the concept of force while using their wheels. It was fantastic to hear them describe whether they were pushing or pulling. One of the highlights of our sessions was riding around the roundabout. We’re also looking forward to exploring how different surfaces can impact an object's movement.

Welcome to Year 2!

Welcome back! I hope you had an enjoyable summer holiday and are ready for some fun-packed learning as we head back to school. Class Two's theme this term is 'On the Move', where we will explore a variety of transport and investigate how we can make objects move.

We introduced the theme in our science lessons by examining the concepts of push and pull forces and discussing their impact on the objects we aim to move. To facilitate this understanding, the children engaged in hands-on activities using the Trim Trail, vehicles, hula hoops, and a selection of PE equipment.

I am looking forward to a term filled with curiosity and discovery as we delve deeper into the exciting world of movement together. Let us make this a memorable year of learning!
