Class 1 - Summer 2026

Year 1 - Creative Paper Curling

Creative Paper Curling

This term the Year 1 children have explored the technique of paper curling to create their very own flowers and imaginative designs.

The classroom was full of excitement as the children carefully curled strips of paper to form petals, leaves, and decorative shapes. They enjoyed experimenting with different colours and patterns, turning simple materials into beautiful, eye-catching creations.

We were especially impressed by the children’s concentration and perseverance throughout the activity. Paper curling can be quite tricky, but the children showed great determination, taking their time and practising their skills to achieve the effect they wanted. It was lovely to see them encouraging one another and celebrating their progress.

Year 1 - Penguin Creations

Penguin Creations

The children have been enjoying the lovely story Pip Finds a Home. They have loved following Pip’s journey and learning all about penguins, their habitats, and how they care for one another.

To bring our learning to life, we got creative with a hands-on activity – making our very own penguins out of salt dough! Everyone worked so carefully to create their penguin bodies, using their hands and tools to add details like wings, beaks, and little feet.

Year 1 - Our Amazing World

This term in Year 1, we have been busy exploring our amazing world through Geography. The children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm as they learned about different places, maps, and where we live.

The children have learned the names of the seven continents and can now locate them on a world map and globe. They also know the five oceans of the world and enjoy finding them using atlases and globes. We have talked about special places on the globe too, including the Equator, the North Pole, and the South Pole.

Year 1 Hot and Cold Pictures

Year 1 have been full of enthusiasm as they learn about hot and cold places around the world! The children have been fascinated to discover how different these places can be and have enjoyed sharing their ideas and questions. They have used their creative skills to paint hot and cold backgrounds and have carefully added animal silhouettes to their artwork. The finished pieces look absolutely stunning. We are so proud of their fantastic effort and imagination!

We have had a wonderful start to the summer term in Year One, with all the children settling back into school routines confidently and happily. They have shown great enthusiasm for learning and are keen to take part in all activities, sharing ideas and working together beautifully. As part of our new theme, What a Wonderful World, the children will enjoy learning about different parts of the world and discovering a wide range of animals and habitats.
