Teamwork and Tag Rugby – Ready, Respectful, Safe!

Year 5 have been enjoying their Atlas Tag Rugby sessions this term and have made a fantastic start. During our lessons, we have been learning key rugby skills such as passing, dodging and working as a team. Just as importantly, we have been following our school rules – being ready to listen and learn, respectful to our teammates and coaches, and safe when handling the equipment and playing the game. The children have shown great sportsmanship, encouraged one another and are growing in confidence each week. We can’t wait to see how our skills develop over the next few sessions!

Staying Safe at SkillZONE – Year 5’s Brilliant Visit

Year 5 had a fantastic day at SkillZONE in Gloucester, learning all about how to stay safe in real-life situations. The children explored a series of realistic settings, including a road, a house, a shop, and even a train station, where they were encouraged to make sensible choices and spot potential dangers. They took part in role-play activities, worked in teams, and thought carefully about how to keep themselves and others safe in everyday life. It was a hands-on, eye-opening experience that taught us important life skills in a fun and memorable way.

Year 5 - We'll Meet Again!

Year 5 had an unforgettable day at the STEAM Museum in Swindon, stepping back in time to experience what life was like for children during World War II. Dressed up as evacuees, we took part in a range of activities that helped us imagine what it felt like to leave home and travel to the countryside. We even experienced what it might have been like to take shelter during an air raid - the sounds, darkness, and tension made it feel very real! The workshops helped us understand the courage and resilience shown by children and families during the war. It was a fascinating, hands-on day that really brought our World War II topic to life.

Year 5￿s Dramatic Blitz Scenes

What a fabulous start to Year 5! This week, we learned about the Blitz and explored what it might have been like to live in London during the bombing raids of 1940. After watching clips of the Blitz and discussing the sights, sounds, and feelings people experienced, we used our ideas to inspire our artwork. Using watercolour paints, we created dramatic night-time skies filled with fiery shades of red and orange, then added dark silhouettes of buildings to capture the atmosphere of the scene. The children showed fantastic creativity in blending colours, tones, and tints to set the mood of their pictures – a brilliant beginning to our learning journey this year!
